What is God uprooting in your life?

Today's blog is a personal Kairos moment from our founder, Pete Jones:

Recently, I finished digging out part of our backyard so that we can install a DIY patio and fire pit. Normally this sort of thing wouldn’t take all that long but because this part of the yard is covered in thick ivy, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of roots to cut, dig and hack through 😬

I was feverishly chopping away a couple of weeks back and took a moment to pause and look at the progress. As my eyes took it all in, I couldn’t help but notice all of the roots that had been severed over the past few weeks. Some were tiny and some were big. Some were much harder to cut through than others and I thought how much easier it would have been without having to cut through the roots.

As I was thinking this, the Lord revealed something that deeply impacted me - and I wanted to take a moment to share it with you.

He showed me that just as I had to cut through hundreds if not thousands of roots, so He has to do the same thing in my heart…

Except he’s not chopping through ivy - he’s cutting through all of the seemingly tiny and big things that keep me from Him - both the known and unknown.

God reminded me that he knows our hearts better than anyone else and that his heart-work will be life long.

As you and I both know, those little roots often don’t seem like a problem at all. In fact, they can be disguised as the “good things” of this world until they turn into something much bigger and go much deeper.

So, how can we take heed to the call of Colossians 2:7 and “let our roots grow down into him” instead of anything else?

To start, here are a few questions I found myself asking that may be helpful to talk to God about:

What are the “big” roots in my heart that need to be dug out?
How did they get there?
Why would I want to put strain on my relationship with God?
Is there a root I can cut out right now?

You can supplement those questions by praying through Psalm 139:23-24:

Search me, God, and know my heart;

test me and know my anxious thoughts.

See if there is any offensive way in me,

and lead me in the way everlasting.

If our hearts are sincere God will certainly show us the roots that need to be dug out to make space for Him.

I seriously want to use this medium to advise anyone seeing this post to be very careful with their mobile phones/laptop and also be very mindful on who you share your personal mobile network with especially when you have your emails logged in, it all happened like a dream to me i took a public transport to work last week monday in the bus i saw a guy who pretended to be lost and was also out of mobile data he begged me to quickly turn on my personal moblie hotspot for him to contact his friend as he was new to town and couldn’t reach his friend because he was out of mobile data, out of pity and genuine mindset i turned on my hotspot for him little did i know that he was only trying to hack into my phone to access my personal files, my cell phone became slow when i got to the office i started receiving alert of cash been tranferred from my account immidiately i had to rush down to the bank to know what’s happening i was told that my funds got wired out of my account using my emails and bank app. i felt like the entire world is about to sink because all my life savings was gone, the bank was unable to trace back my funds, i had to quickly contact my older brother who is also a computer professional he then introduced me to Mr.James who quickly interceded on my behalf and helped me recover all my money and also tracked down the hacker. I almost lost my life after falling victim to a scam that went on for weeks, I got contacted by a lady pretending to be a Forex trader, she told me that I’ll make huge profits if I invest on her platform not knowing that I was being targeted, I started making investments through bitcoins until it was time to withdraw and they insisted I had to pay 20% to withdraw my money and it was then I knew I was being swindled.
